Spirit Lake Tribe

It is no secret that bison called North Dakota’s prairies home many years before us. In the vast acres that reach from Devils Lake to the Sheyenne River, the Spirit Lake Tribe is doing their part to preserve the land and their bison program. In the past 5 years, they have implemented pasture rotation by installing approximately 20,000 feet of fence line, 8,000 feet of water pipeline, and 7 livestock water systems – allowing their bison herd to travel the land that their ancestors once called home.
